Theodore Ushev - direction, animation, design, editing

Theodore Ushev was born in Bulgaria and graduated from the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia. He first made a name as a poster and graphic designer, before moving to Montreal in 1999. There he quickly gained a reputation as an animation filmmaker, with films such as Vertical, The Man Who Waited, Tower Bawher, Tzartitza, and Drux Flux for the National Film Board of Canada.  He created live show multimedia and promo animations for the British band Public Symphony and David Gilmour’s “In an Island” album and live tour.

Chris Robinson - script, idea, consultant

Chris Robinson is an Ottawa-based writer and the Artistic Director of the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF). A noted animation commentator, curator, and historian, Robinson has become a leading expert on Canadian and international independent animation. In May 2004, Robinson was the recipient of the President’s Award given by the New York chapter of animators for contributions to the promotion of independent animation.

He writes The Lit Pimp, a monthly literary column for The Ottawa Xpress. His writings on animation, hockey, film and books have appeared in many international publications including The Ottawa Citizen, Salon.com, Ottawa Magazine, Stop Smiling, Take One, and Cinemascope.

Robinson’s books include: Between Genius and Utter Illiteracy: A Story of Estonian Animation(2003/republished in 2006),  Unsung Heroes of Animation (2005), Stole This From a Hockey Card: A Philosophy of Hockey, Doug Harvey, Identity & Booze (2005), The Animation Pimp (2007), Canadian Animation: Looking for a Place to Happen (2008), Ballad of a Thin Man: In Search of Ryan Larkin (2008), Scribbles (2009), and Love.Simple. (2009).

He is currently working on an animation history novel: Japanese Animation: Time out of Mind (2010).
